CROSS COUNTRY INKS TWO IN EARLY SIGNING PERIOD

Trey Stewart- New Orleans, LA (John Curtis Christian School)

Originally a native of South Carolina, Trey has lived in Louisiana the past two years and has competed for one of the top ranked men's cross country programs in the state of Louisiana. Trey has improved as a runner year after year, claiming some solid times and performances along the way. His personal records include: 16:05 (3 mile), 4:34 (1600 meters), and 10:00 (3200 meters). Trey will make an immediate impact his freshman year as a Crusader and will be a huge addition to the men's distance program. "Not only is Trey an outstanding runner, he is an exceptional young man. Trey has continued to impress me from the first day I met him on his official visit to NGU. Our program is all about bringing in excellent athletes, but most importantly solid individuals. We are getting both with Trey Stewart."

Shelby Wright- Boiling Springs, SC (Spartanburg Christian Academy)

Shelby will continue her already impressive cross country/track and field career by remaining in the upstate of South Carolina. However, she will be make the transition from Boiling Springs, SC to Tigerville, SC to become a North Greenville University Crusader. Shelby has an impressive high school resume which includes:

Cross Country:

  • Letter Award 6th - 11th grade
  • SCISA 1A/2A All‐state - ‘08, ‘09, ‘10, ‘11, ‘13
  • SCISA All‐State Team - All Divisions - ‘10, ‘11
  • Spartanburg County Championship Team - ‘11
  • Spartanburg County - All County Runner (top 10) - ‘10
  • Spartanburg Herald Journal Cross Country All‐area - second team - ‘11
  • High School Sports Report SCISA - All‐state Cross Country - ‘10

Track and Field:

Track - Letter Award 6th, 9th, 10th, 11th grade (did not run 7th, 8th grade)

  • SCISA 1A/2A State Champion - 200M, 400M, 4X400
  • High School Sports Report SCISA - All‐state Cross Country - ‘10
  • Spartanburg Herald Journal Track All‐area Sprints - second team - ‘13

Shelby will also look to make an immediate impact for the NGU women's cross country/track and field program. "First of all, Shelby is an outstanding young lady. She is extremely kind, respectful, and mature well beyond her years. Shelby is a very versatile runner, which means she has a lot to bring to the table. She has displayed great foot speed in track, but she has also posted some respectable cross country times. I look forward to seeing Shelby continue to reach her potential and develop into a well-rounded runner."
