Concord, N.C.—Ahmad Nesbitt brought home NGU's first Conference Carolinas title, pacing the North Greenville Men's Cross Country Team to a fourth place finish at the Conference Carolinas Championships on Friday afternoon.
Nesbitt ran the designated 8k race in 24:57, 12 seconds faster than the second place qualifier. Nesbitt earned First Team All-Conference honors after finishing in the pole position. It was also his fourth first place finish of the season. Amanda Ward and Zoe Engwall lead the way for the NGU Women's Team with a pair of top 15 finishes paired with two 3rd Team All-Conference nods.
Ward and Engwall finished back-to-back int eh 12th and 13th spots as Ward finished the 5k in 20:12 while Engwall was just a second behind finishing with a time of 20:13. As a team, the Crusaders finished in sixth place with a total time average of 21:02. Rounding out the top four for the women's team was Kelly Knutson who finished the day in 30th with a 21:07 while Haley Willingham crossed the finish line in 39th place after running a 21:41.
The NGU men's also turned in a solid performance with its fourth place finish, running a team average of 28:10. Jordan Ferguson turned NGU's only other top 25 finish on Friday with his 22nd place finish. Ferguson stopped the clock at 28:08. Jacob Grigg ran a 28:55 for the Crusaders earning a 35th place finish while Ravon Wamer finished in 39th after running 29:04, rounding out North Greenville's top four men's runners.
