After running strong in their first two races of the season, the North Greenville men’s and women’s cross country teams will travel to Charlotte, N.C. tomorrow and look to continue their success in the UNC-Charlotte Invitational.
The cross country teams began the season strong as the men won the team title in the Erskine Invitational and the women finished third overall. In the team’s second race of the season at The Citadel Invitational, the men placed sixth overall while the women placed seventh of the 11 teams competing.
In the UNC-Charlotte Invitational, the Crusaders will face their toughest competition of the season as 24 teams will compete including Clemson University, the University of South Carolina, Virginia Tech University, Wake Forest University and College of Charleston.
The women will compete in a 5K race in Charlotte. Last week in The Citadel Invitational in Charleston, S.C., Raven Wamer ran a personal best 21:30 in her first race of the season. Ansley Boltin also posted a personal best with a time of 21:57. Freshman standout Currie Dickerson has had a strong beginning to her collegiate career with an average time of 22:45 in her first two races.
In the men’s 8K race, a few Crusaders to watch will be the team’s top runner Andrew Mosteller, who posted a season best 31:19 last week in Charleston. Others include James Lind and Ben Wade, each with average times of 31:23 in two races this season and Jonathan Eastridge, who has posted an average time of 32:30.
The women’s race will begin at 4 p.m. while the men’s race will start at 4:30 p.m.
