North Greenville fell victim in a high-scoring contest to the Tornado of King University with a score of 100-68 in Bristol, Tennessee. The Crusaders shot below .400 for just the third time this season, recording a 36.9 field goal percentage while King went on to have a historic day with an impressive 59.3 percentage. Jalon Cokley led in points with 12.
After a 2-2 start to the game, King took the momentum first with a 9-0 run to lead 11-2 early on. However, the Crusaders quickly responded with a 9-0 run of their own to tie things back up. North Greenville would continue to respond to several runs by the Tornado, but eventually King would build themselves up to a seventeen point lead at the end of the half.
A slow start to the second half resulted in just five points scored between the two teams in the first three and a half minutes. KU would continue to slowly build up their lead. After a three pointer by DJ Brooks to cut the deficit to 22, the Tornado would respond with an eleven point run while the Crusaders would go scoreless for three and a half minutes. NGU kept things even from there, but King would ultimately take the victory by 32 points.
NGU will return to Tigerville to face the Mount Olive Trojans on Saturday, January 18th.
