NGU was unable to slow down a strong Georgia College offense, falling with a final score of 95-73. Kovi Tate and Daniel Burchette had standout performances as they combined for 39 points. With the loss, NGU ends the weekend with a 1-1 record.
The Crusaders kept the game even early, trailing just 15-12 around eight minutes into the half. However, the Bobcats were able to being to pull away with a 14-7 run to lead 29-19. NGU trailed by as much as 17 points in the half, but a three-pointer by Caleb Arrington helped stop the bleeding. Georgia College would take a 14-point lead into the half with a score of 44-30. North Greenville shot 32.3% from the field with Burchette leading in points with eight.
GC put up a quick three-pointer to begin the half. Down 50-30, the Crusaders put up a fight with an 11-5 run, but the Bobcats had an answer as they would put up a 15-6 run to take a 70-47 lead with 10:58 remaining. North Greenville would eventually cut the deficit to back under 20 points, but a late 8-3 run to end the game by the Bobcats gave them a 95-73 win. NGU improved in the second half with a 44.8 field goal percentage. Kovi Tate led in points with 13.
Kovi Tate had an impressive performance with a double-double. He posted 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Daniel Burchette scored 19 points and recorded 4 rebounds and 2 steals.
Caleb Arrington put up 9 points, all from three-point range, and 3 rebounds.
The Crusaders will travel to Mars Hill, North Carolina to face the Mars Hill Lions on Tuesday, November 13th.
