Late surge lifts North Greenville past Lees-McRae on Senior Day

Tigerville S.C. - The North Greenville Crusaders took a close one on Saturday against the Lees-McRae Bobcats with a final score of 81-77. NGU improves to 10-17 as they look to close off the regular season.

The first half stayed close for all 20-minutes with the largest deficit never exceeding eight points. Jai Jencks with a last second tip in would give the Crusaders a 43-41 lead of the Bobcats at the half. Troy Blyden would lead the crusaders at the half in scoring with 13 of the 43 total.

The second half would prove to be just as competitive with the largest lead of nine coming early on in the half. The Crusaders would hold a lead up until the 10-minute mark when Lees McRae fought back hard to take a 63-62 lead. The Crusaders would ultimately come out on top as they seal the win at home on Senior Day.

Troy Blyden and Miguel Cartagena would both finish as the leading scorers for North Greenville with fifteen each. Lees McRae would win the turnover battle 19:13 but could not take advantage in the loss.

North Greenville will close out the regular season with a home game against the Belmont Abbey College Crusaders on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 7:30.
