North Greenville struggles in loss to King

Bristol, TN—North Greenville fell to 3-9 overall and 1-5 in Conference Carolinas play following a 71-59 loss to King University.

North Greenville was led by Justin Dotson who scored 21-points following a 4-8 performance from the three point like. Dotson was 8-15 from the field overall. Miguel Reyes Cartagena was second on the team with 11 points while Korval McElroy dropped 10 points and led the Crusaders with eight rebounds.

The Crusaders trailed by as many as 14-points during the opening frame of action but bounced back in the second half to take the lead with 9:24. The lead would be short lived however as the Tornado knocked down a pair of free throws ten seconds later to regain a 46-45 edge.

North Greenville would stay close but an 8-0 run from King would create run would create separation as the Tornado extended the lead to 12-points. NGU would cut the deficit to eight points with 1:53 left in the game but another late run from the Tornado would end the prospects of a comeback.

The Crusaders shot just 36.7 percent from the field and 34.6 percent from three-point land while the Tornado shot 35% for the game. The Tornado dominated the paint scoring 22-points at the basket. The Tornado also got help from their bench as the role players scored 29-points with 15 fast break points.

The Crusaders will travel to Southern Wesleyan on January 16th to take on the Warriors at 4pm in Central, South Carolina.
