Gaffney, S.C. - North Greenville dropped a Conference Carolinas contest to Limestone College on Tuesday night as the Saints earned a 76-65 win over the Crusaders.
The Saints led for much of the first half but a layup from Chris Brown with five seconds left earned the Crusaders a two-point lead at intermission. The first half saw seven ties and seven lead changes. Limestone earned the largest lead of the period at seven points as NGU trailed 20-13 with 7:40 left on the clock.
North Greenville was the aggressor early in the second half as the Crusaders extended its once two-point lead to 10. Troy Blyden would put the exclamation point on a 9-0 run with a dunk that made the score 52-42 with just under 15-mintues left to play.
The Crusaders would lose their grasp on the lead though as the Saints responded with a run of their own. The once 10-point advantage was reduced to just one as Limestone's 13-2 run would make the score 54-53 in favor of North Greenville The Saints would take the lead on their next possession as a layup gave them a 55-54 edge.
North Greenville would lead once more after a pair of free throws from Korval McElroy made the score 58-57 but Limestone would score the next seven points to take a six point advantage. The Crusaders would pull to within four with 2:33 left on the clock but Limestone would come out on top wrapping up the league win, outscoring NGU 12-5 in the final two minutes of play.
McElroy led the Crusaders with 14-points While Justin Dotson finished with 12. Tommy Wade had 22-points for NGU. Dotson paired his double-digit scoring night with eight rebounds while McElroy added four assists and three steals.
North Greenville fell to 10-17 on the season and 6-13 in league play.
