Tigerville, S.C. - North Greenville men's basketball got back on the winning side of things Wednesday night, with a 66-56 win over Erskine College.
The Flying fleet led for most of the first half, leading by as many as eight, but North Greenville closed the gap and evened the tally at 29-29 with 2:03 left before halftime as Justin Dotson knocked down a three pointer.
The two squads would then exchange baskets, but NGU would get the last points of the half as Miguel Reyes Cartagena evened the score at 31-31 with a jumper.
The early goings of the second half would see three ties and six lead changes before the Crusaders gained control. A pair of free throws from Korval McElroy would give NGU a 49-48 lead, which the team would not relinquish.
A 12-5 run from North Greenville would seal the win, as the Fleet missed seven of its final eight shots down the stretch while the Crusaders capitalized on its final seven possessions.
The win bumps NGU to 9-15 on the season and 5-11 in Conference Carolinas play. Cartagena led all scorers with 18-points on Wednesday, while McElroy finished with 13. Justin Dotson finished the night with nine points and was 3 of 7 from three-point range.
The Crusaders will host Emmanuel College on Friday evening at 6pm in Hayes Gymnasium.
