High Point, N.C.—The North Greenville Men's Basketball Team earned several post season honors over the weekend headlined by Spencer Reaves who was selected as the Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year.
Reaves led the NGU Basketball Team in scoring by a wide margin, scoring 530 points so far this season, the second most in Conference Carolinas, averaging 17 points per game. Reaves did most of his damage from the three point line, nailing 89 shots from down town. He shot just above 50 percent from the field while dishing out 49 assists and collecting 100 rebounds. Reaves is the first freshman from North Greenville to garner the Freshman of the Year accolade. He was also selected to the All-Conference 2nd Team.
Also earning a spot on the All-Conference 2nd-Team is senior Phillip Brown. Brown finished the season with 353 points, averaging 11.4 a game to go along with 7.4 rebounds a contest. Brown was also one of NGU's best defenders accounting for 41 blocks and 22 steals.
Rounding out the post-season awards for the Crusaders is Korval McElroy who was an All-Conference 3rd-Team selection. McElroy was the point of the North Greenville offensive attack this season, dishing out a team leading 130 assists. He also averaged 12 points per game with 4.8 rebounds.
2015 Conference Carolinas All-Tournament Team:
Phillip Brown-Averaged 9.6 points per game during tournament play with 17 rebounds and five blocks in the championship game against Mount Olive.
LaShawn Alexander-Averaged 13.6 points a game during NGU's championship run, shooting 73 percent from the field, making 19 of his 26 field goals.
Micah Parker-Micah Parker took home the tournament Most Valuable Player award after scoring 14 points a game during the tournament. Parker was impressive 69 percent from three-point range including a 4-4 performance against Barton in the opening round.
