EARLY SURGE SETS TONE AS NGU CRUISES PAST PFEIFFER

Tigerville, S.C.—Phillip Brown and Spencer Reaves combined for 37 points with 19 and 18 respectively, leading North Greenville past the Falcons of Pfeiffer University 82-59, in Hayes Gymnasium on Saturday evening in Tigerville.

The Crusaders wasted little time jumping ahead, as Micah Parker got the day's scoring started with a three ball to give NGU an early 3-0 lead. Spencer Reaves would follow Parker up with a three of his own to give NGU a 6-0 lead. The Crusaders would run the score to eight before the Falcons would find their first points, cutting the lead to 8-2.

The Crusaders would run the lead to 16 with 8:07 remaining in the half. Pfeiffer would battle its way back into the game, Cutting the first half deficit to just 10 with about five minutes remaining. North Greenville would close the half on a 7-0 run however, sparked by three pointers from Reaves and Brown, earning the Crusaders a 34-17, halftime lead.

North Greenville would keep the foot on the pedal in the opening minutes of the second half. Back to back threes from Reaves and Brown once again extended the Crusader lead, this time to 21, leaving 16:14 left in the game. Reaves would give the Crusaders their biggest lead of the game, with 9:14 with a pair of free throws that made the score 58-30.

North Greenville would maintain the 20 point lead for the remainder of the game, doubling up the Falcons in points in the paint with 30, while also converting 20 Pfeiffer turnovers into 30 points. Brown also led NGU on the boards with 10 rebounds, while Korval McElroy scored 14 points.

North Greenville improved to 13-7 on the season and 7-6 in Conference Carolinas play after Saturday's victory of the Falcons. The team will travel to Central, South Carolina on Tuesday night for a game with local rival Southern Wesleyan University, scheduled for a 7:30 tipoff.
