Misenheimer, NC - North Greenville pushed its record to above .500 and improved to 2-1 in Conference Carolinas with a 57-55 victory of the Falcons of Pfeiffer University on Tuesday night .
The two teams matched up well on paper, which showed throughout the first half in which neither team was able to gain an advantage of more than seven points as the Crusaders and Falcons played to five ties in the first 20 minutes of play.
North Greenville's Spencer Reaves hit a three-pointer with 45 seconds remaining to give the Crusaders a 24-23 lead at intermission.
The second half of action proved much of the same back-and-forth action as the Falcons controlled the scoreboard for the first 19 minutes of play.
However, the Crusaders would end the game on a 12-0 run, tying the game at 55-55 on a three-pointer from senior Micah Parker with 36 second to play in the game. After forcing a Pfeiffer turnover, North Greenville's Korval McElroy converted a layup on an assist from senior LaShawn Alexander with 1.2 second remaining on the clock for the two-point road win.
North Greenville shot 40 percent from the floor, including 35.3 percent from long range, compared to just 33.9 percent and 25 percent from three-point range by the Falcons.
Parker was the Crusaders' leading scorer, finish with 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the floor, including 4-for-7 from deep, with eight rebounds in 38 minutes of play.
Reaves was the only other Crusader in double figures, finishing with 10 points and seven boards, while McElroy recorded nine points and senior Phillip Brown chipped in eight points of his own.
The Crusaders (3-2, 2-1 Conference Carolinas) will return home for a non-conference matchup with Truett McConnell College on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 8 p.m. in Hayes Gymnasium.
