Balanced Scoring Leads Crusaders Over Bobcats

Tigerville, SC – All five starters scored in double figures as the Crusaders swept the season series over Lees McRae with a 94-77 victory in Hayes Gymnasium on Monday night.

The Bobcats controlled the game for much of the first six minutes of play, building a nine-point lead with 13:56 on the clock. A jumper by junior Micah Parker sparked a 13-2 run that allowed the Crusaders to take a slim 23-21 lead at the 8:20 mark of the half.

After Lees-McRae tied the game at 23-23 on back-to-back free throws by Jacquise Moore, the Crusaders used a 17-8 run over the final eight minutes of carry a 40-31 lead into the halftime break.

The Crusader lead built to as much as 15 points over the first five minutes of the second half, as their largest lead of 91-71 came with 1:16 remaining in the game. Free throws by junior James Williams and a jumper by freshman Arthur Gray sealed the 17-point victory for North Greenville.

Junior Phillip Brown recorded his 17th double-double of the season with 18 points and a game-high 11 rebounds, while senior Keith Johnson totaled 18 points, six rebounds and five assists.

Freshman Thomas Horn chipped in 15 points of his own in 30 minutes of action as Parker scored 13 points on 5-for-11 shooting from the floor. Senior Chris Dean rounded out the double-digit scorers, pouring in 12 points and pulling down six rebounds in the game.

North Greenville (14-10, 7-7 Conference Carolinas) will travel to Swannanoa, NC tomorrow, Feb. 18for a non-conference matchup with Warren Wilson College at 7 p.m.
