Eleven Crusaders Score In Defeat Of Truett-McConnell
Tigerville, SC – Eleven Crusaders scored as North Greenville earned its 5th straight win over non-conference Truett-McConnell College 80-53 on Thursday night in Hayes Gymnasium.
North Greenville opened the game on an 18-3 run over the first five minutes of play to take a lead they would never relinquish, carrying a 46-23 advantage into the half time break.
The Crusader lead stretched to as much as 33-points with 8:06 left to play in the second half, leading to the 28-point victory.
As a team, North Greenville shot 50 percent from the floor, while holding the Bears to just 27 percent shooting and out-rebounding Truett-McConnell 49-35 in the contest.
Senior Keith Johnson was 6-for-7 from the floor, including 2-for-3 from beyond the arc, for a team-high 14 points with five assists, while fellow senior Chris Dean chipped in 13 points of his own.
Freshman Troy Blyden tied his career-high with 12 points as freshman Thomas Horn scored 11 points in just nine minutes of action. Senior Blake Ferguson totaled career-highs with 10 points and nine rebounds in 16 minutes off of the bench.
North Greenville (12-5, 5-2 Conference Carolinas) will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 25 in Belmont, NC as they play the Crusaders of Belmont Abbey College at 7:30 p.m.
