Johnson Named Conference Player of the Week
High Point, NC – North Greenville University’s Keith Johnson has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas Men’s Basketball Player of the Week during week number two of the 2013 season.
North Greenville's Keith Johnson played a pivotal role in leading the Crusaders to a perfect 3-0 record last week, including a win in the team's first Conference Carolinas tilt.
The senior was "Mr. Clutch" in a battle with Belmont Abbey, hitting a three-pointer at the regulation buzzer to send the contest into overtime and hitting the game-winning jumper with three seconds remaining to claim the one-point victory at home.
In two games against Bluefield State and Francis Marion, Johnson was the team's third and second leading scorer respectively in each game. For the week, the Hopkins, SC native averaged 20 points per game on 50% shooting from the floor while pulling down 7.7 rebounds per game and handing out 2.3 assists per game.
The Crusaders are currently 5-2 on the young season and sit atop the Conference Carolinas' standings with a 1-0 record.
