Crusaders Add Versatility, Land Fifth Commit
Tigerville, SC - North Greenville basketball head coach Chad Lister announced today the signing of Troy Blyden from New Port Richey Florida.
Blyden is the second player from Oldsmar Christian to sign with NGU. Oldsmar Christian teammate, shooting guard Thomas Horn committed in May.
Coach Lister on Troy: “Our staff has enjoyed getting to know Troy and his family, and we are thrilled he has chosen to attend North Greenville in the fall. Troy is a guy you need on the floor because of how hard he plays and his versatility. He can guard multiple positions, and will be a tough match-up for our opponents. Troy finishes above the rim and has great lateral quickness for a guy his size. He will be a great fit here at North Greenville and will make an immediate impact both on and off the floor.”
Last season at Oldsmar Christian, Blyden was voted “most improved player” and is one of Coach Jordan Fair’s favorite players he has ever coached. He attended Oldsmar Christian his senior year only, but made a huge impact on their program that had seven seniors that will play college basketball next year.
Oldsmar Christian Coach Jordan Fair: “Unfortunately I was only able to Coach Troy for one year; I wish I had him for four. Troy does everything you ask of him and is a lead by example guy. He works his tail off every day and has such a desire to compete and get better. Troy gets a lot of attention because he can dunk on people, but what I love the most about him is the way he defends and rebounds and that he always sprints on both ends of the floor. There is no doubt Troy has his best basketball ahead of him and North Greenville University will be the perfect place for him to grow as a player and young man.”
