TIGERVILLE, SC—North Greenville University men's basketball coach Chad Lister has announced two new additions to the Crusader basketball team today, as Blake Payne and Luke Edwards will join the squad for the 2013-14.
"We are thrilled to have Blake and Luke in our program," Lister said. "We recruited Blake in high school and he spent his first year at NGU trying to figure out if he could manage his time with academics, ministry opportunities and basketball.”
Payne, a 6-3 wing from Ashbrook High School (NC), averaged 10 points and 6 rebounds during his senior season. Payne is also an honors student at NGU, member of Joyful Sound, and is serving as a worship intern with Kairos this summer at Grace Church in Greenville.
“Blake is a fantastic young man, a solid player, and will be a great ambassador for NGU and our basketball program," added Lister.
"We feel very blessed to have Luke join our program," Lister said. "Luke has a high basketball IQ and will work extremely hard to be part of our future success.”
Edwards, a 5-11 guard from Chapin High School (SC), was a team captain for the Eagles, leading his team to the AAA State tournament this season.
“Luke did a lot of the intangibles for our team. His work and dedication was great and he is a true leader,” said Chapin coach Mike Burge.
Payne and Edwards are the third and fourth additions to the NGU men’s basketball squad in less than a month. Lister also added two Floridians in Thomas Horn and Jai Jencks
