Tigerville, SC – In the final home game of the 2012-13 season, the North Greenville University men’s basketball team dropped a conference matchup with Lees-McRae College 87-78 on Senior Night in Hayes Gymnasium.
The Bobcats jumped out to a slim 15-13 lead over the first five minutes of play until the Crusaders tenacity on defense turned into a 23-18 lead with 11:56 remaining in the opening half. The two teams continued to battle with Lees-McRae earning a 45-40 edge at the halftime intermission.
The second half of play was all Lees-McRae as the Bobcats controlled momentum and built a lead as big as 22 with just over six minutes to play. The Crusaders fought to cut into the lead over the final five minutes but couldn’t overcome the large deficit.
Tyshawn Patterson led the offensive charge with a game-high 25 points in 40 minutes of play. Jimmy Ellis followed close behind with a season-high 23, while Chris Dean narrowly missed a double-double with 19 points and nine rebounds in the game.
North Greenville (10-15, 5-14 in Conference Carolinas) will travel to Bristol, TN on Friday, March 1 to take on King College in the final game of the regular season.
