Tigerville, SC – Erskine led from start to finish as North Greenville dropped a Conference Carolinas matchup on its home floor 82-60 on Wednesday night.
The Flying Fleet opened the contest on a 12-4 run over the first five minutes of action to build an eight point led that would only increase. Erskine built its largest lead of the first half with just over a minute to play as the Crusaders trailed 42-27 at the halftime break. Erskine’s lead grew to as much as 24 points in the second half of action as North Greenville dropped its second straight game in Hayes Gymnasium.
As a team, the Crusaders shot just 32.2 percent from the floor, including 18.2 percent (4-for-22) from three-point range, while out-rebounding the Flying Fleet 41-36 in the game. In comparison, Erskine shot 4.7.7 percent from the floor, while forcing 18 Crusader turnovers.
Tyshawn Patterson scored a team-high 18 points but shot just 5-for-16 from the floor in 34 minutes of action. Chris Dean followed close behind with 15 points and five rebounds of his own, while Phillip Brown recorded his third double-double of the season with 14 rebounds and a game-high 10 rebounds before being sidelined with an ankle injury in the second half.
The Crusaders (8-12, 5-11 in conference) will take to the road tomorrow, Feb. 14, for a matchup with Toccoa Falls College in Toccoa Falls, GA at 7 p.m.
