Tigerville, SC – The North Greenville University Crusaders got back on the winning track with a 82-69 victory over Warren Wilson College on Thursday night in Hayes Gymnasium.
The Crusaders,who hold a 10-0 career record against the Owls, controlled the game from start to finish and secured a slim 37-29 lead at the half. North Greenville opened the second half of play with a 16-8 run to gain an advantage it would never relinquish.
As a team, the Crusaders shot 46.7% from the field while holding the Owls to 42.9% shooting from the floor and forcing 19 turnovers.
North Greenville was led by sophomore Chris Dean who recorded his sixth 20-point game of the season as he finished with 20 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the floor.
Jason Wray scored a season high 19 points to go along with five assists in his first start of the year, while Paul Harrison secured his fifth double with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Tim Franklin filled up the stat sheet once again as he finished the game with 11 points, five rebounds and four assists.
“Coach Walden had his team prepared tonight,” said head coach Chad Lister. “They played extremely hard and there were times where did not match their intensity. I expect our team to be very focused at practice as we prepare for a big game at Queens on Saturday.”
The Crusaders (7-4, 2-2 in conference) will get back into Conference Carolinas play on Saturday, Jan. 14 as they travel to Charlotte, NC to play against Queens University at 4 p.m.
