Franklin Springs, Ga. – The North Greenville men’s basketball team extended its winning streak to 12 games in a row with a 82-65 victory over in-state rival Southern Wesleyan University in the semi-finals of the NCCAA South Region Tournament on Tuesday night.
“I thought SWU was the aggressor in the first 15 minutes. Our guys settled in and executed well to close the half, cutting a 12-point deficit to five going into halftime,” said head coach Chad Lister. “I thought our defensive effort was great in the second half and our scoring was balanced.”
Freshman guard Chris Dean led the Crusaders with 15 points and five rebounds, while Paul Harrison recorded his eight double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds to go along with four assists.
Kyler Booher was the only other Crusader in double digits with 11 points. Zack Shields provided a spark off the bench with nine points, while Tim Franklin chipped in eight points of his own.
“We were in the regional championship one year ago today and lost a heartbreaker,” said Lister. “We are thrilled to have another opportunity tomorrow.”
The Crusaders (22-6) will face either Palm Beach Atlantic or Southeastern in the NCCAA South Regional championship game tomorrow at 3 p.m. at Emmanuel College.
