Tigerville, S.C. – After holding a two point advantage at intermission the Crusaders opened up the second half with a 17-5 run to seal a 91-68 victory over Johnson and Wales University on Saturday afternoon.
The victory was North Greenville’s 10th in a row and a school-record 20th win of the regular season.
“It wasn’t our best 40 minutes but we were able to turn up the defensive intensity in the second half,” said head coach Chad Lister. “To win 20 games in monumental. I’m extremely proud of our guys to achieve this goal.”
Paul Harrison ended the season on a high note as he recorded his team-leading sixth double-double of the season with 23 points and 13 rebounds. Luke Lattimer broke out of his recent shooting slump to finish with 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field. Chris Dean was the leading scorer off the bench totaling 13 points and four rebounds.
Senior guard Kyler Booher, playing in his final home game as a Crusader, finished with six points, five rebounds and three steals. Booher finishes the regular season as the team’s fourth leading scorer with 7.2 points per game to go along with 3.2 rebounds per game and shooting 46.1% from the floor.
“I’m very proud of Kyler Booher,” said Lister. “He is the epitome of the type of player we want in our program – 4.0 in History, team chaplain and a hard-nosed player.”
North Greenville (20-6) will have a few weeks to rest and prepare before traveling to Franklin Springs, GA for the NCCAA South Regional Tournament on Mar. 7-9. The Crusaders’ first round opponent will be announce within the next week.
