NGU MEN'S BASKETBALL ADVANCES TO NCCAA REGIONAL FINAL

Palm Beach, Fla. – Paul Harrison tossed in 27 points, Zack Shields added 14 and Luke Lattimer had 12 and North Greenville (16-11) limited Truett McConnell (Ga.) to 35% shooting from the field as the Crusaders won 78-61 in the NCCAA South Regional Tournament semi-finals at Palm Beach Atlantic University.

North Greenville tied a school record for most wins in a season as a four-year institution dating back to 1991 with the victory.  NGU last won 16 games in the 2006-2007 season.
“Any time you can hold a team playing in post-season competition to 35% shooting, you’re going to have a good chance to win,” NGU Coach Chad Lister said.  The Crusaders scorched the nets in the first half against Truett, shooting 62% to take a big 46-21 lead at the break.  Sophomore Jason Wray, who got the start at forward, scored eight of NGU’s first 10 points in the game to get the Crusaders out to a hot start.  “Our bench was terrific tonight, and if they keep it up, we will have a good shot at moving to the next level.”
North Greenville, which was seeded #2 in the region, will play Palm Beach Atlantic (#4), which defeated Emmanuel (Ga.) 97-90 in the other semi-final contest, for the regional title Tuesday, March 9 at 6:00 p.m.  The winner will advance to the NCCAA National Championships March 18-20 at Oakland City (IN) University.
