CRUSADERS DROP REMATCH WITH YELLOW JACKETS

Columbia, S.C.—The North Greenville men’s basketball team (12-8) traveled to Columbia looking to avenge an early season loss to Allen University but came up short in their attempt falling to the Yellow Jackets 74-56.

Forward Paul Harrison led NGU with 14 points and collecting six rebounds. Zack Shields also scored in double figures for the Crusaders with 11 points. Freshman Jamaal Pryor led the team in rebounds with seven.
The Yellow Jackets jumped out to a 14 point lead in the first five minutes of the game outscoring the Crusaders 20-6. NGU cut the lead to eight with a minute left in the first period only to watch Allen build a 12 point lead before intermission. North Greenville battled in the second half and held the lead to under 15 points and cut the lead to nine with 10 minutes left but the Crusaders were unable to find an offensive rhythm as Allen went on to win by 18.
“We gave up to many open looks in the first five minutes of the game,” said head coach Chad Lister, “From that point on we had a better defensive effort but had a miserable night from the three point line.”
The Crusaders were just 2 of 14 for 14.3% from the three point and 20 of 47 for 42.6% from the field for the game. The Crusaders won the battle in the paint outscoring Allen 26-18 as well as bench points (15-11).  Allen scored 26 points on North Greenville turnovers compared to nine NGU points off of turnovers. The Yellow Jackets also outscored NGU 10-5 second chance points.
The Crusaders will return home Saturday February 13th for a game against Carver Bible College. Tipoff is scheduled for 4pm.
