Sophomore guard Tyler Mains (SO Butler, KY) scored a career high 21 points and six North Greenville Crusaders scored in double figures in a 96-74 win over Carver College in Atlanta Thursday night.
Other Crusaders scoring in double digits were Kyler Vitko with 17, Zach Babbitt 15, Kyler Booher 14, Paul Harrison 12, and Jonathan Bozymowski added 10.
Coach Chad Lister’s squad earned only its second back-to-back wins of the year with a big offensive display in the second half. The Crusaders led only 47-41 at the break, but Lister said his club had a big final 12 minutes on both ends of the court. “We did a nice job on defense the last 12 minutes of the game and rebounded hard,” he said. “We were able to pull away by really sharing the basketball tonight. Tyler (Mains) had a big game and he’s really maturing at the point guard position.”
North Greenville will next seek to make it three straight for the first time this season playing at Mars Hill Saturday, Feb. 21. The Lions defeated Crusaders 101-73 in Tigerville on Dec. 3. NGU’s final home game will be Monday, Feb 23 when the Crusaders host Reinhardt College of Georgia at 7:00 p.m. Following that contest, North Greenville will host the National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association (NCCAA) South Regional Tournament March 9-11 at Hayes Gymnasium.
