ICY SHOOTING, HARD REBOUNDING BY BREVARD LEADS TO 66-44 LOSS FOR NGU MEN

The North Greenville men had their coolest offensive performance of the season as Brevard College (10-7) played tough defense and dominated the backboards to take a 66-44 win at Hayes Gym in Tigerville.

Jonathan Whitson led four Tornados in double figures with 14 points to key the Brevard victory.  Junior forward Kyler Vitko was the only NGU player who reached double figures with 10.

NGU (5-9) managed one shot on most of their offensive possessions during the game as they hit a dismal 15-55 from the field (27.3%) and an icy 0-12 from three-point range.  The Tornados out-rebounded the Crusaders 43-31.

The futility started in the first half for NGU as they were stony from the field, shooting 4-20.  The Tornados led 37-14 at the break.  Coach Chad Lister’s Crusaders came on strong in the final 20 minutes, but could not shovel themselves out of the huge hole.

The Crusaders will host Warren Wilson College on Tuesday, Jan. 27 at 7:30 p.m.
