The rain pouring through the South Tuesday didn’t directly affect the NGU Crusaders’ effort against Reinhardt College in Waleska, GA Tuesday night, but dismal free throw shooting and turnovers led to a 91-86 loss.
The Crusaders (2-5), who shot a scorching 83% at the free throw line against Erskine College last time out, shot a cool 21-38 at the line (55%), which was the major factor in a game where Coach Chad Lister’s squad missed several opportunities to pull out a win late in the game.
Junior forward Kyler Vitko led NGU with 21 points. Cordell Alexander had a game high 28 points on 5-8 three-point shooting and 11-12 at the free throw line for Reinhardt.
NGU will now take a two-game road trip to Florida for contests with Florida College (Jan 9) and Trinity College (Jan. 10) in Trinity, FL. The Crusaders’ next home game will be Tuesday, Jan. 13 when they host Atlanta Christian at 7:00 p.m. at Hayes Gymnasium.
