The Crusader Men’s basketball team lost their home opener to Limestone College by a score of 69-52.
The first half went back and forth with one tie and four lead changes. The half-time score was 32-30 with Limestone on top. However, in the second half the Crusaders were not able to keep up with the saints. North Greenville was out scored 37-22 in the second half as the Saints pushed the game out of reach. The Crusaders had trouble handling the full court press from Limestone which led to a multitude of turnovers for the Crusaders. North Greenville let the pressure defense from the Saints control the tempo and turn it into a fast paced game. In the first half the Crusaders were able to get in the half court offense and execute enough to match the points off of turnovers from the Saints but, in the second half North Greenville was unable to handle the pressure from Limestone and get into their half court sets. The Crusaders were able to every able bodied player into the game. That type of experience could prove useful late in the year as our young team continues to grow and mature.
