TIGERVILLE, SC--North Greenville University's men's basketball team finished out the 2007-08 season in explosive fashion. The Crusaders defeated Carver Bible College 90-64 Wednesday night in Hayes Gymnasium. North Greenville finishes the season 7-20, while Carver falls to 4-30.
The game was originally scheduled to be played at Carver, but was moved to NGU due to a malfunctioning scoreboard in Carver's gymnasium.
The Crusaders opened the game hot, scoring 49 first half points on 57.6% shooting. Austin Randel had 18 points in the opening period, including four 3-pointers.
North Greenville turned the heat up even higher in the second half. The Crusaders opened up the second half with a 26-6 run over the first seven minutes. At one point, North Greenville extended its lead to as many as 38 points.
NGU out-rebounded the Cougars 49-29. The Crusaders shot 56.9% from the field and 54.5% from behind the arc. Carver managed to connect on only 31.9% of its field goal attempts.
Randel led the Crusaders with 35 points on 13-19 shooting. Randel also had six assists. Kyler Vitko contributed 12 points and seven rebounds, while Nathan Wilson added 11 points.
Playing in their final game as Crusaders, seniors Adam Griggs scored 4 points and dished out eight assists and Andrew Nipper scored six points and grabbed seven rebounds.
Joshua Caston led the Cougars with 20 points on 9-15 shooting. Jeremy Russell and Chris Dudley added 11 and ten points respectively.
