Livingstone holds on for win over Crusaders

TIGERVILLE, SC--Livingstone College held on for an 81-74 victory over North Greenville University Saturday afternoon in Hayes Gymnasium in NCAA Division II men's basketball action. The Blue Bears improve to 11-11 on the season, while the Crusaders fall to 5-17.

Livingstone hit nine of eleven free throws down the stretch to keep the lead late in the ballgame. On one of the missed free throws, Santonio Springs grabbed his own rebound and put it back in the basket to extend the Bears' lead to six points with just 43 seconds remaining. Austin Randel drained a 3-pointer for the Crusaders on the ensuing possession, but NGU could not score again.

Emilijano Kinaj led the Bears with 13 points. Springs and Ivan Lombard-Jackson added 12 and 11 points respectively.

Randel led North Greenville with 25 points. Adam Griggs scored 17 points, while Andrew Nipper chipped in 12 points. Both Griggs and Nipper dished out five assists.

North Greenville led 36-34 at halftime.

The Crusaders will be back in action Wednesday night at Brevard College. Tip-off is set for 8:00 p.m.
