Crusaders fall to Eagles

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn.-- The Eagles shot 47 percent from the field en route to a 94-73 victory over North Greenville University at Holt Fieldhouse.

The Eagles (5-1) used a stifling defense to hold the Crusaders (1-8) to just 44% shooting for the game and a mere 17% from three-point range. The Eagles collected 18 steals with Scott Williams swiping four North Greenville possessions. Andrew Johnson led Carson-Newman with 15 points while Jesse McMurray scorched the nets with four three-pointers for 12 points. In his first game for the Eagles this season, Williams added 11 points while freshman Kevin Hare scored 10 points and was a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line.

North Greenville's Austin Randel led all scorers with 23 points while Kyler Vitko added 14 points. Both teams combined for 59 free throws in the game with C-N shooting 74% from the charity stripe.
