North Greenville wins battle of the Crusaders
Amonzo Gantt scored a team-high 27 points to pace NGU

TIGERVILLE, SC- Amonzo Gantt scored 27 points and dished out five assists as the North Greenville Crusaders held on for an 87-80 victory over the visiting Crusaders of Belmont Abbey College in NCAA Division II men's basketball action. NGU improves to 7-8 on the season with the win. Belmont Abbey falls to 4-11.

Belmont Abbey took an early nine point lead, outscoring NGU 13-4 over the first four minutes. North Greenville battled back and took the lead 15-14 at the 13:41 mark in the first half. Belmont Abbey tied the game at 15-15 a few minutes later, but NGU was able to stretch the lead to 14 points at halftime.

In the second half, NGU went up by as many as 20 points with 14:39 left in the game, but Belmont Abbey went on a 26-10 run over the next eight minutes. Then, Gantt nailed a triple with 4:32 left in the game to put NGU up by seven points. North Greenville was able to hold on for the 87-80 win.

Behind Gantt's 27 points, Josh Burgess and Jordan Richmond both dropped 20 points for NGU. Burgess also grapped eight rebounds.

Anthony Bell scored a game-high 28 points for Belmont Abbey. Brooks Beard and Sidney Hoff chipped in 14 and 13 points respectively.

North Greenville will be back in action Saturday night at Brevard. Tip-off is set for 8:00 p.m.
