North Greenville signs two on Signing Day

TIGERVILLE, SC – Tyler Mains (Falmouth, KY) and Preston Johnson (Olar, SC) signed National Letters of Intent to play men’s basketball at North Greenville University announced Crusader head coach Chad Lister on Wednesday.

“We are extremely excited to add Tyler Mains and Preston Johnson to our program,” said Lister. “Both of these young men are tremendous basketball players who also excel in the classroom.”

Mains, a 6-1point guard from Pendleton County High School (KY) averaged 14.7 points and 4.7 assists per game and led his team to a 28-4 overall record and the Tenth Regional Semifinals this season.

Tyler is a very intelligent player with great court vision,” said Lister. “He will be an instant fit in our system and will have no problem learning our expectations of him.”

Johnson, a 6-6 post player from Denmark-Olar High School (SC) averaged 15.6 points and 13.2 rebounds en route to being selected to the North/South All-Star Game. Johnson helped lead his team to a 21-5 record this season and a berth in the Class-A Lower State Championship. He is a three-time all-region player, was selected to the all-state team this year, and was named the Times and Democrat boys’ basketball Player-of-the-Year.

Preston is another smart basketball player who has tremendous moves around the basket,” added Lister. “He adds a level of athleticism that will help our team in transition and in the paint.

“We are looking forward to having Tyler and Preston on campus and are excited that they chose to continue their basketball careers at North Greenville University as we try to become one of the finest Division-II programs in the country.”

The Crusaders finished 13-17 in 2005 and lost in the finals of the Division-II National Independent Tournament in Fort Myers, Florida.
