Tigerville – North Greenville’s Chauncy Haney earned his first All-America nod today from the American Football Coaches Association, earning Second Team All-American honors from Division II coaches.
Haney adds the accolade to a growing list of awards including First Team All-Gulf South Defense, Second Team All-Gulf South Special Teams, and Gulf South Defensive Player of the Year for the league. The senior bookend on the defensive line will also participate in the 2020 NFLPA Collegiate Bowl in January.
Haney finished the season with a team-high 55.5-tackles including 33-solo stops. He also led the Gulf South in tackles for a loss with 16 and sacks with 9.5. His two field goal blocks this season ranked him second in the league in blocked kicks. He ranked among the nation’s best statistically in each of the previous three categories including 10th in sacks and 12th in sacks per contest.
