Birmingham, AL - Dre' Williams showed his big-play ability on Thursday night and was awarded with Freshman of the Week honors by the Gulf South Conference it was announced Monday afternoon.
Williams put up the first 100-yard rushing performance for the Crusaders since the 2017 season, running it to the tune of 113-yards and a touchdown. His biggest run of the day resulted in his first career touchdown as he broke free for an 86-yard scamper in the third quarter, putting NGU up 10-0.
It was the longest play from Scrimmage in two years for NGU and helped NGU go on to win its season opener against the Wolves. Williams is the first NGU player to earn a weekly award from the Gulf South since joining the league last season as an official member.
