Tigerville, S.C.—North Greenville University football team has released its 2016 schedule, a slate which includes five home games and two against Gulf South Conference opponents.
The Crusaders will open the 2016 season on Thursday night when they play host to the West Alabama Tigers. The Tigers finished 7-4 overall last season and a 3-4 mark in Gulf South Conference play. It will be the first matchup between North Greenville and West Alabama, a game which is scheduled for a 7pm kickoff.
North Greenville will take on consecutive South Atlantic Conference members in weeks two and three, traveling to Lenoir-Rhyne on September 10th, followed by a home game against Newberry College on the 17th.
Games against UNC Pembroke in Pembroke, North Carolina on the 24th and Mars Hill in Tigerville on October 1st will wrap up the first half of the 2016 season. The remaining home games for the season include Wingate University (Homecoming) on October 29th and Carson Newman on November 5th.
The toughest stretch of the season will be a three game road trek against The Citadel October 8th, Tusculum on the 15th, and to North Alabama on October 22nd. NGU has never played the Citadel and is 0-2 against the Lions who made it to the 2nd round of the NCAA Playoffs in 2015.
The Crusaders will wrap up the season on November 12th at Limestone.
