Tigerville, S.C.-- Monday marked the beginning of spring practice for the North Greenville football team under new head coach Jeff Farrington, as the Crusaders gear up for a full 11 game 2013 slate.
The Crusaders will officially kick off the Farrington era at NGU with a September 7th rematch with Albany State in Tigerville. The series between the Crusaders and Rams is equal at one win a piece after Albany avenged a first round playoff loss in 2011 to NGU with a 24-12 triumph over NGU in 2012.
The Crusaders will hit the road a week later destined for Virginia for a game with Virginia Military Institute, one of two games against a Football Championship Series foe. The Crusaders will also take on Charleston Southern and former head coach Jamey Chadwell three weeks later on October 5th in Goose Creek.
North Greenville’s 2013 schedule once again features a full South Athletic Conference slate of games. The Crusaders open SAC Alliance play on September 21 against Tusculum, in the friendly confines of Younts Stadium. Other home games include showdowns with Lenoir Rhyne on October 12, Carson Newman on October 26, Catawba November 9.
NGU’s road schedule proves less strenuous than 2012 when the Crusaders hit the road on five of their first seven games. On top of trips to VMI and Charleston Southern, the Crusaders will hit the interstate for games against Brevard for a week three game with Brevard College, an October 19th game at Mars Hill, and a November 2 meeting with Wingate. The Crusaders will wrap up the 2013 regular season with a November 16th meeting with in state rival Newberry College.
