FOUR SENIORS ACCEPT INVITE TO PLAY IN SOUTH CAROLINA COLLEGE ALL STAR BOWL
Greenville, S.C.—Four North Greenville football players will have the opportunity to play their last game in Younts Stadium, Again. Offensive tackle Chancellor Hudson, receiver Sean Wright, linebacker Jonathon Sharpe, and linebacker AJ Jones have all accepted invites to play in the inaugural South Carolina College All-Star Bowl, set to be played in NGU’s Younts Stadium in March of 2013.
Defensive end Stefan Bynoe also received an invite but will be unable to participate due an injury suffered during the 2012 season. The Bowl will be played 3:00 p.m. Saturday March 23 at Younts Stadium on the campus of North Greenville University and feature players from "Upstate South Carolina vs. Low country South Carolina" according to the bowl's website. To be eligible for the bowl a player must have either played football at a South Carolina college, or have played high school football in the state and went on to play the game collegiately.
All four of NGU’s participants played high school as well as college football in the state of South Carolina. In 2012, AJ Jones and Jonathon Sharpe were among the leaders on defense for the Crusaders. Jones racked up 65 total tackles from his linebacker position while Sharpe racked up 53 tackles with two interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown.
Wright, who struggled with an injury in 2012, racked up 180 yards on 16 receptions with two touchdowns. Chancellor Hudson anchored the North Greenville offensive line from the left tackle position in 2012 leading the Crusaders to five wins in their last six games.
