Tigerville, SC – The North Greenville University football team, fresh off receiving its first-ever NCAA Division II post-season berth in the history of the institution, has also received its highest ranking ever in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Top 25 national poll, coming in at #20 in the final poll of the regular season.
The Crusaders, who received the #3 seed in the Super Region Two playoffs, will host #6 Albany State (GA) on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 1:00 p.m. in Younts Stadium. Albany State makes its eighth consecutive NCAA II playoff appearance and its 12th in the program’s history. NGU finished the regular season at 9-2 overall, and is riding an active seven-game winning streak dating back to a Sept. 24 38-28 loss to Mars Hill. The Mountain Lions, the second round opponent for either North Greenville or Albany State, is ranked #19.
Tickets for the historic first-round playoff game are $15 for adults and $5 for students. They will be on sale at the North Greenville athletic department beginning 11/17/2011.
North Greenville began playing football in 1988 as junior college, and moved to the NAIA as a four-year school in 1992. NGU became a NCAA Division II member in 2002.
