Tigerville, SC --
North Greenville University will play host to Campbellsville University of Campbellsville, Kentucky in the 14th National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association (NCCAA) Victory Bowl football game Saturday, Nov. 20 at Younts Stadium on the NGU campus. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
NGU, which has won seven consecutive games and stands at 8-3 on the year, will make its third appearance in the Victory Bowl, while Campbellsville, an NAIA program with a 7-4 mark, will appear for the first time. North Greenville, under the direction of second year Coach Jamey Chadwell, has had an eye-opening turnaround season, going from 2-8 a year ago to producing the second best season in school history.
Campbellsville, which is coached by Perry Thomas, had to defeat West Virginia Tech 56-35 last weekend to qualify for the Victory Bowl. The Tigers have won three consecutive games. Campbellsville is located 82 miles southwest of Lexington, Ky., and 80 miles southeast of Louisville, Ky. They have not advanced to the post-season since 2001.
NGU and Campbellsville have an extensive history playing each other when the Crusaders were an NAIA program and competed in the Mid South Conference. The series is tied 4-4 with the Tigers having won the last two games in 2000 and 2001. CU took the last meeting in 2001 with a 27-13 win.
Tickets for the Victory Bowl are $10, and will be on sale only at the Younts Stadium gate the day of the game, and all sales are cash only. Children six to 12 are $5 and kids under six are admitted free.
