BERNARDI NAMED NCAA DIV. II NATIONAL INDEPENDENT PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Andre Bernardi, North Greenville University’s football award’s magnet, added another to his extensive collection this week as he was named the NCAA Division II All-Independent National Defensive Player of the Week.

Bernardi had 11 total tackles, including 4.5 tackles for loss for a total of 20 yards and 2.5 sacks for 11 yards and a quarterback hurry in NGU’s 28-3 loss to Wesley College on Sept. 12.  It appeared at times as if the 6-3 265 senior out of Marietta, Ga. was lined up in the Wolverines’ backfield as he harassed the quarterback and running backs the entire game.
The three-time All-American at NGU, who was the All-Independent College National pre-season Defensive Player of the Year, will lead the Crusaders against in-state rival Charleston Southern Saturday, Sept. 26 at 1:30 p.m. in Charleston.
