CHADWELL SAYS CRUSADERS READY FOR BIG OPENING CHALLENGE

Declaring his North Greenville football team ready despite the short amount of time to prepare, Coach Jamey Chadwell stated that the Crusaders are ready to “hit somebody else” after a long three weeks of pre-season training.

“It’s hard to pick up a new system in a short period of time, but we hope it comes to fruition this Saturday against Mars Hill,” he said. “Mars Hill is ranked #24 and their have an established program with a veteran coach so it’ll be a good opening season challenge for us.”

Kickoff for the NGU – Mars Hill game is at 7:00 p.m. at Younts Stadium in Tigerville just north of Greenville, SC.

“We have covered a lot of situations the last week that we must be prepared for during the first game,” Chadwell added.  “We have also been clarifying who will play where with regard to the depth chart and we still have a few positions that guys are battling out.  Richard Harb (SO QB) has had a good camp and has emerged as a solid leader.  Sean Wright (SO WR) is also one of our offensive leaders and the guys will rally around him.  Montez Hatten (SO-TR) will be the new face in the backfield and Chancellor Hudson (SO OL) has impressed on the offensive line.

Andre Bernardi, Johnell Bell and Joe Novotasky will again anchor the defensive line, and A.J. Jones (FR) has earned a starting spot at the linebacker position.

“Our season will be a progression and we will focus on getting better every week.  We’ll be the underdog Saturday, so we’ll see if that motivates our guys to play well this weekend,” Chadwell said.
