Tigerville, SC- The North Greenville University football team held its first practice of the 2009 football season today on the NGU practice facilities.
The teamed practiced for about two hours wearing only helmets as the players went through individual drills as well as a team walk through learning the new playbook that was implemented during spring practice.
The team enters summer drills for the first time under new head coach Jamey Chadwell who came to NGU in February from Charleston Southern University. “It was a very positive first day” Chadwell said “over half the team is a first time Division 2 college football player so we don’t have a lot of experience, but the team had a great attitude and it was good to get out on the field again.”
Chadwell also says the team has a long way to go in just 18 days but was happy with a positive first day. The Crusaders open the 2009 season at home on August 29th with a home game against Mars Hill College. The team will resume practice tomorrow afternoon at the NGU practice facility.
