D2 FOOTBALL.COM NAMES FIVE CRUSADERS TO NATIONAL ALL-INDEPENDENT TEAM

Topped by senior running back Rashad Cummings (Mt. Dora, FL), and senior defensive end Andre Bernardi (Marietta, GA),

who both earned First Team honors, North Greenville University placed five players on the National NCAA Division II All-Independent National Team as selected by D2football.com.

Cummings, who rushed for 904 yards this season, scored seven touchdowns and had 1182 all-purpose yards, earned his third all-Independent national team honor.  Bernardi, who also earned his third honor, led the Crusaders on defense with 56.5 total tackles, 8.5 sacks, 16.5 tackles for loss, and 13 quarterback hurries.
Other Crusaders who made the All-Independent Second Team included senior linebacker/defensive back Tyrell Davis (Sumter, SC) and Zac Durham (Traveler’s Rest, SC), a senior offensive lineman.  Davis was third on the team total tackles at 43.5, had 5.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, and had one interception and a fumble recovery.  Durham was a consistent performer on the Crusader offensive line and played every game this season mostly against larger defensive linemen gauged by the rigorous NGU schedule.
The final Crusader selected was junior defensive back Xavier Boykin (Camden, SC), who was second in total tackles with 55.  He also had 3.5 tackles for loss, one sack and two fumble recoveries.
