TYRELL DAVIS NAMED ICAA NATIONAL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Tyrell Davis, a senior from Sumter, SC, has been named the Independents Collegiate Athletic Association’s National Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced by the ICAA office in Billings, MT.

Davis, a 5-10 198 linebacker, had nine solo tackles with four assists for 11 total tackles last week in NGU’s 37-21 loss to Shorter College.  He added 1.5 tackles for loss and a quarterback sack.  He follows Andre Bernardi’s national honor last week, giving the Crusader’s three national player honors on the season.
Davis’ 11 total tackles was a season high for any Crusader player.  Davis is the all-time leader at NGU in solo tackles (98), interceptions (5), and forced fumbles (4).  He is in the top three in every career defensive category, and has 178.5 total career tackles, eight behind junior Doug Wilson (186) for the lead.
Davis will lead the Crusaders against Edward Waters of Florida Saturday, Oct. 25 at 2:00 p.m. in a Homecoming matchup at Younts Stadium.
