Andre Bernardi, a senior defensive end from Marietta, GA has been named the Independent Colleges
Athletic Association’s (ICAA) National Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced by the ICAA office
in Billings, MT.
Bernardi, who compiled six solo tackles, five for loss, and four sacks against North Alabama, the NCAA Division II’s leading offense, was awarded the honor for the second time this season. Bernardi helped limit the Lions’ offense to a season low 199 total yards. They had been averaging 545 yards per game.
The NFL Draft Scouting website has also ranked Bernardi as the 7th best small college defensive end in
the nation. He currently has a team best 33 total tackles (10.5 for loss), 7.5 sacks, 12 quarterback hurries and one forced fumble.
Bernardi and the North Greenville Crusaders travel to Shorter College, an NAIA program in Rome, GA
just outside of Atlanta. Their next home game is Saturday, Oct. 25 against Edward Waters of Florida at
2:00 p.m. at Younts Stadium in Tigerville.
