Crusaders crank up preseason practice

TIGERVILLE, SC--The familiar sounds of pads popping and whistles blowing are back in Tigerville as the North Greenville University Crusader football team starts up its 2007 preseason practice. Eventhough temperatures have been in the upper-90's, the Crusaders are still trying to prepare for the upcoming season.

With new freshmen now joining the team, the primary objective of the first few practices include getting acclimated to the pace of each practice and getting the basic idea of the offense and defense. For most freshmen, these objectives can provide heat on the field from the coaches, however, hot temperatures created even more difficulty. Nevertheless, the heat could not hold down the Crusaders.

The two-hour practice session began with warm-ups leading into position drills that focused on fundamentals. Formation drills followed with a 7-on-7 scrimmage between the offensive and deffensive backs. After a short scrimmage, both squads returned to formation drills followed by 30-yard sprints.
