North Greenville selected to host Victory Bowl

TIGERVILLE, SC—The National Christian College Athletic Association has selected North Greenville University to host the 2006 Victory Bowl November 18th at Younts Stadium. The Crusaders will play the Malone College Pioneers from Canton, OH. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.

The game marks the first ever bowl game in Tigerville and North Greenville’s third bowl appearance in school history. The Crusaders participated in the 1999 KWTO Bowl and the 2003 Victory Bowl.

The university is planning many bowl game festivities and giveaways for fans, including Chick-fil-A coupons, pom-poms, NGU Crusader apparel, a Crusader helmet, and 2007 season tickets. One fan will have the opportunity to participate in the Bank of Travelers Rest $10,000 Field Goal Kick Challenge at halftime.

North Greenville is having a record-breaking season. The Crusaders are currently 8-2 with the top-rated offense in NCAA Division II. Last week, North Greenville broke the school record for single-season scoring in its 44-35 victory at NCAA I-AA Austin Peay State University.

Malone College, who plays its home games at Fawcett Stadium next door to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, is currently 6-3. The Pioneers are ranked 22nd in the NAIA.

Both teams will participate in a Christian service project on Friday, November 17th. Groups will visit Shriners Hospital, The Meyer Center, and Joshua’s Way.

Tickets are $10 at the gate. Children get in free with paying parent. North Greenville is also offering a group rate. For more ticket information, call North Greenville Athletics at 864-977-7150.
