Cheerleading places 2nd in a national competition

CONCORD, NC--North Greenville University's cheerleading squad placed second nationally in the College Co-Ed division at the CCA National Cheerleading Competition. Four Crusaders also competed in an all-girl solo stunting competition and placed second.

The competition marked the first time since 2001 that North Greenville competed in a cheerleading competition and the first time the Crusaders have competed in the CCA National Cheerleading Competition.

"The team began practicing only two weeks before Nationals so we are very excited with the results," noted coach Jessie Coram. "We are already looking forward to going to Nationals again next year."

The competition was especially rewarding for Coram. Before taking over the NGU cheer program, Coram coached at Eagles View Academy in Jacksonville, Floriday in Fall 2007. EVA competed in the CCA High School competition, so Coram was able to catch up with her former team and see them place second in their division. "It was great to have both teams at the same competition and have them unite together," said Coram.
