Scott Wingo comes to North Greenville from the University of South Carolina where he served as a student assistant with the Gamecock baseball team. Wingo is also the head coach of the Wilmington Sharks of the Coastal Plain League.

Scott Wingo is a native of Mauldin, South Carolina where he played baseball for Mauldin High School. He eventually earned a scholarship to play at the University of South Carolina where he was a four-year letterman under head coach Ray Tanner. He played on both National Championship teams for the Gamecocks in 2010 and 2011 and was a two-time SEC All-Defensive Team selection. Wingo was named a team captain for his senior year and earned the College World Series’ Most Outstanding Player award.

During his college career Wingo played in 254 games, the second highest total in USC history behind NGU head coach Landon Powell. During his four years in Columbia he scored 159 runs with 19 doubles, five triples and 18 homeruns. During his senior season Wingo hit a career high .338 and had a .972 fielding percentage. Wingo also set the school record for hit-by-pitches with 63.

He was drafted in the 11th round by the Los Angelos Dodgers. During his time in the minors, Wingo complied a .390 on base percentage with 10 homeruns and 75 runs scored. He also had 29 stolen bases. Wingo will work as an assistant coach with the Crusader coaching staff focusing on defense.
